Cool Stuff

Some exciting projects have passed through our workshop in the last few months from high end marine componentry, aviation componentry through to equipment used in the meat works.

Marine equipment for some of the most extreme boats around the world is all custom made as it is very rare to find something off the shelf to do the job required. In this case we teamed up with the designers and helped with a solution for one foiling Trimaran sailing the oceans. It is a very complicated part and a lot of attention to detail was required. The result is a product that enables this boat to foil for days on end without issue.

The aviation industry is heavily laden with administration and traceability requirements. With our MRP software and ISO 9001 Certification this gives us the edge on being able to provide accurate records from material certs through to code of compliance certificates.

Recently we have produced some complex parts which are part of a state of the art safety system. This system has been added to equipment within the meat working industry and will stop injury to operators. It is nice to know we are contributing and helping to improve safety in other sectors as well as our own.

Early this year James joined the Absolute CNC team to undertake a machining apprenticeship with us.

James says, “I am pleased to be at Absolute CNC and saw the opportunities that were available to me. To be able to learn all aspects of machining from manual machining through to the high-end CNC machining is exciting and challenging.”

We are happy James picked Absolute CNC. He has progressed very quickly and has become an asset to us.

James wants to enter the trade skills competition next year and we wish him well for the event and will do everything we can to help him succeed.

Job tracking and resources.

Job tracking and resources.

The last month has seen some big developments in how the Absolute CNC business is run. Key to this was the installation of MRP (Materials Resource Planning) software. This has been an absolutely mammoth task which lead to the system going live early last week

Our system has been built around the ISO 9001 standard and will improve document recording and traceability of materials, jobs, quotes and admin. Time recording for staff is done at a workshop pc with the use of bar codes allowing up to the minute information on work in progress and accurate time logging.

Another key feature is the planning board making job planning and machine loading easy which in turn allows us to provide you with accurate delivery dates.
